Gramam Men's Night 2026
Following the wonderful success of our annual Ladies Night, GRAMAM is thrilled to host the inaugural Gramam Men's Night! Unwind, reconnect with old and new friends, savor authentic Kerala bites and a delicious dinner, and witness the fierce trick-taking battles in the 28 Card Tournament.
28 (ഇരുപത്തിയെട്ട്) Tournament
4-player partnership gameplay. Minimum bid 14, trump reveals, honors counting, and championship honors.

28 Card Tournament (ഇരുപത്തിയെട്ട്): 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Group stages, knockouts, semifinals & Grand Finals
Gramam Men's Night: 6:00 PM onwards – 9:30 PM
Hot Kerala appetizers, tea/coffee, dinner feast, 28 Card Championship trophy presentation, and community fellowship.
Entry Fees
$20 for a 2-player team (or $10 per player). Includes entry into the 28 championship tournament bracket and contest for trophies.
$15 per person — includes full hot Kerala dinner, chai, appetizers & social entry.
The Hollow Clubhouse at Holloway at Wyndham Forest
A beautiful, spacious clubhouse in Glen Allen with comfortable seating, large card game tables, modern kitchen amenities, and ample free parking.

28 (ഇരുപത്തിയെട്ട്) Tournament Rules & Ranking
Classic 4-player game played with 32 cards (8 from each suit). Two partnerships sit across each other to capture tricks and fulfill bids.
Core Mechanics of 28
- Total Points: 4 Jacks (12) + 4 Nines (8) + 4 Aces (4) + 4 Tens (4) = 28 total points in the deck.
- Bidding Rules: The player next to dealer must open bid with minimum 14. Subsequent bids increase by at least 1 up to 28.
- Hidden Trump: The highest bidder places one card face-down as the trump. It remains hidden until a player unable to follow lead asks for trump reveal.
- Trump Reveal & Turn: Once trump is opened, player who requested must play trump if holding one. The winning team must make the bid points.
Honors, Thani & Trophies
- Honors (Royal Pair): A pair of King and Queen of the trump suit held by a single player represents Honors (adds or subtracts points depending on team).
- Thani (Lone Play): A player who bids Thani plays solo against the opposing pair to take all 8 tricks without partner intervention!
- Tournament Prizes: GRAMAM 28 Card Championship Trophies for Winners and Runners-Up, plus Best Bidder honors!
- Teams: Form your own 2-player or 4-player team, or register solo and our tournament directors will match you with a partner.
